Visitors to the Fasig House will find various artifacts that date from the late 1700s to the late 1800s, diving into the life, work and culture of early German settlers in Manheim. During 1st Thursday the Fasig House will be open (along with the Keath House), with a representative from the Manheim Historical Society present to answer any questions you may have.

There will be a Christmas Open House at both the Fasig House and the Keath House during 1st Thursday. Complimentary hot mulled cider will be served at the Keath House. The Belsnickel will be around town looking for good boys and girls and their pets to give them some special treats. And the Historical Society will be giving out a free Christmas ornament to each visitor.

Francesco’s provides the Manheim community with quality, authentic Italian food.

For December’s 1st Thursday, Francesco’s will be offering a dozen wings for $9.99, plus they’ll be set up on Market Square with pizza slices for sale.

Glasshouse Wineworks creates well-crafted wines accompanied by a welcoming atmosphere.

During December’s 1st Thursday, Glasshouse Wineworks will offer mulled wine at $5 per glass.

Horst Arts offers a series of unique art-based events that provide the perfect solution for a fun night out. From crafting competitions to informative roundtables to kid crafts, they have something for all ages. Horst Arts is also the working art studio of collage artist Katherine Horst, and the design studio of Jason Horst, offering graphic design and web development services for the past 20 years.

During December’s 1st Thursday Horst Arts will feature the return of Kid-Made Christmas. Pick from two low-cost kits that will allow your child to create either an ornament or a frame as a gift for a relative or friend in their life. Plus check out their new line of oversized wooden snowflakes.

Nearly Nu is a thrift shop with household items and clothing to meet all of your needs. The shop is non-profit and gives its profits back to the community and various charities. The shop has one manager and any workers you see in the shop are volunteers and donate their time as a way to give back to the community. The Women’s Club of Manheim is an organization of Manheim women committed to friendship, community service, and civic responsibility. The club is a nonprofit organization that contributes more than $10,000 each year to the Manheim community. Holiday Story Hop

December’s 1st Thursday will feature the 2nd Annual Holiday Story Hop! Beginning at 6:30, three ten-minute Christmas stories will be told around Market Square. Pick a story and then rotate around to the other two as each story will be told three times. Grab some free hot chocolate along the way! This year our story presenters will be Big Dream Creative Arts Studio, local actor Kevin Krum, and Crickets Performing Arts in collaboration with the Manheim Community Library. Everyone loves a story! Kick off the holidays with three of them in a fun, unique way while enjoying the beautify of the holidays in Manheim’s festive Market Square.

Santa and Mrs Claus

December’s 1st Thursday will be magical with the arrival of Santa and Mrs Claus!

Downtown Manheim Businesses

Manheim’s 1st Thursdays provide an opportunity for your business to reach potential customers from both inside and outside the Manheim area, while contributing to the health of the community via these ongoing celebrations. In order to be listed as a 1st Thursday participating business, you must:

  • Commit to being open from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm on 1st Thursdays.
  • Be open for walk-ins OR conduct some sort of business or promotion outdoors on your business property.
  • Be a member of the Manheim Area Chamber of Commerce

If you’re not a Chamber member, we would still love to have you participate in the event—however you will not be listed as a participating business. Consider becoming a member today! Per Manheim Borough ordinance, any business conducting sidewalk activities during 1st Thursdays must clear that activity with the organization running the event (Manheim Area Chamber of Commerce).

Businesses Outside of Downtown Manheim

Are you a business outside of the downtown area that would like to participate in 1st Thursdays? You have three options:

  • If you’re a Chamber member and you will be open for business from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm on Thursday, December 3rd, and will be open for walk-ins or will have outdoor activities for the public on your property, let us know and you will be listed on the website as an activity outside of the downtown area.
  • If you would like to set up a vending table in the area of Market Square, please complete an application. Preference is given to Chamber members. Not a member? Become one today!
  • Team up with another downtown business and use their space. If you’re interested in this option but need help finding a space, please let us know.

Food Trucks/Street Vendors

We are excited to have outside vendors and food trucks participate in 1st Thursdays. The application supplied below outlines all regulations and requirements for being approved as a vendor. Please note that all food truck opportunities have been filled for the 2022 season.

We are looking for musicians to perform outdoors in downtown Manheim during 1st Thursdays. If you are interested in performing, contact Please include a description of your performance style, an overview of your setup, and how much you would charge.

Sponsorship Opportunities

Events like 1st Thursdays are made possible by the generous contributions of local businesses. Below are the sponsorship options. Contact for details.

  • Title Sponsor: There will be only one title sponsor per month. Visiting, you’ll see a 300x600 ad space near the top reserved for the title sponsor (300x250 on mobile). You will need to supply both the 300x600 and 300x250 ad for your business. That ad would link to your website and would appear from the time you sign up until the Saturday after 1st Thursday. In addition, you would receive one dedicated post via the Chamber’s Facebook and Instagram accounts. The price for being a title sponsor is $300.
  • Event Sponsor: Visiting, you’ll see spaces for event sponsors below the map. Here is where we would include your logo (which would link to your business). In addition, you would receive one dedicated post via the Chamber’s Facebook and Instagram account. The price for being an event sponsor is $150.
